Privacy Policy
Before you launch: have this reviewed by a lawyer. This is a starting template, not legal advice.
This policy explains what Nexa (“we”, “us”), operated by Alex Sanchez, collects when you use the Nexa website and app, and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and an encrypted password, or your Google account email if you sign in with Google.
- Your study material: the text we read from files, screenshots and web pages you add, the notes and quizzes Nexa makes, your chat with Nexa, and your quiz scores.
- Payment details: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep your Stripe customer ID and plan status.
- Usage counts: how many quizzes, notes and messages you've used, so we can apply plan limits.
- Classes: if you create or join a class, the class name, the display name you choose, and your weekly score and streak. Other members of that class can see these, and quizzes you share to the class. They never see your notes or chat.
- Links you add: when you paste a link (a web page, a shared Google Doc or a YouTube video), our server fetches that page to read its text for you.
- Reminders: if you turn on daily reminders, a push subscription from your browser or device, so we can send a notification.
- Lecture recordings: if you use “Record a lecture”, your browser's own speech recognition turns your voice into text (in Chrome, the audio goes to Google to do this). We store only the text you save. Audio files you add are transcribed on your device, and we never receive the audio.
- Messages to us: anything you send through the Contact us form, with your account email.
How we use it
- To run Nexa: save your material, sync it across your devices, and answer your requests.
- To send your material and questions to our AI provider so it can write quizzes, notes and explanations.
- To process payments and apply your plan.
- To show class leaderboards and send the reminders you asked for.
- To contact you about your account, such as password resets and billing receipts.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your study material for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run Nexa for us:
- Anthropic (AI model provider) processes the material and questions you send to answer them.
- Supabase (database and sign-in) stores your account and study data.
- Stripe (payments) processes subscriptions and passes.
- Vercel (hosting) runs the website.
- If we turn on the optional natural-voice feature, the short pieces of text Nexa reads aloud are sent to ElevenLabs. The free on-device voice sends nothing anywhere.
- Browser push services (such as those run by Google, Apple or Mozilla) deliver reminder notifications. They see the notification, not your study material.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is open. You can delete sources and notes in the app at any time. To delete your whole account and everything in it, email alexsanchezlofi@gmail.com from the address on your account and we'll delete it within 30 days.
Children
Nexa is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact alexsanchezlofi@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have the right to know what we hold about you, get a copy, correct it, or delete it. Email alexsanchezlofi@gmail.com to make a request.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email.
